What is it? DiscoTech’s are essentially a science fair that’s also a party with music, food, and cool people to demystify a range of technologies. People can come through and learn things like how the internet works, how sound systems are built, how to screen print, and dig into a lot of other creative topics and skills. Site Activation // After Party - at the Black Portal, ?????
What is it? After a few days of gathering, discussion, building, deconstructing, designing, learning - we’ll close it all out with a party at the Black Portal. The Black Portal is a new building and project led by Wes Taylor to restore a historic theater just across from Conant Gardens, one of Detroit’s most prominent historically-Black neighborhoods that’s played an outsized role in the cultural landscape of the city. We will be inviting people for a site-activation to showcase how the ideas of the weekend come together in reality when practicing how to carve open space for a myriad of potential futures to grow, all the while archiving and excavating history.
